Dolly Parton - Parton Wont Be Playing Glastonbury

DOLLY PARTON will not be making a surprise performance at British music festival Glastonbury, her representative has confirmed.

The country queen was rumoured to be a last-minute addition to the line-up at this weekend's (27-29Jun08) event, joining the likes of Amy Winehouse and Jay-Z in the list of performers.

But a spokesperson for Parton has denied the reports - because she's already scheduled to play elsewhere.

The rep says, "Despite reports today, Dolly Parton is not appearing at this weekend's Glastonbury festival.

"She is tonight starting the UK leg of her world tour in Glasgow, playing in Manchester tomorrow night and a second show in Glasgow on Sunday night."

Amy Winehouse apologises for racist video

Amy Winehouse apologised today (June 9) for singing a racist slur-filled song, which was captured on video by her husband Blake Fielder-Civil.

The singer reportedly told paparazzi outside her London home today that she was sorry, reports the Associated Press. She also denied that her singing of the song made her a racist.

"I don't want to play anything down, but I'm the least racist person going," Winehouse said.

The video, which appears to have been filmed quite some time ago, appeared on The News Of The World this weekend. It also shows the singer in a drug den surrounded by drug-taking paraphernalia.

Meanwhile, the troubled singer's husband admitted committing assault and perverting the course of justice in London today (June 9), as previously reported.

Kirk Douglas - Douglas Completes Playground Project

Veteran actor KIRK DOUGLAS and his wife have unveiled their 400th school playground - concluding their decade-long effort to provide a safe place for Californian kids to play.

On Wednesday (28May08), Douglas, 91, rode down a slide at the opening of Beethoven Street Elementary School's newest grounds in Culver City, California - a ritual he has performed at every ceremony.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger - Douglas' close friend and co-star in the 1979 movie The Villain - was present to praise the Spartacus star and his wife, Anne, for their contributions to the state's play areas.

The couple set up the Anne + Kirk Douglas Playground Awards in late 1997, with the aim of building and refurbishing 400 play areas in the Los Angeles school district. They have donated more than $8 million (GBP4 million) in the last 10 years.

Ben Kingsley will be honored with a 2008 Golden Space Needle award for acting during the Seattle International Film Festival.
